eBay has purchased Blackthorne, a producer of auction management tool
software, particularly Auction Assistant. This will give eBay the
ability to offer branded management tools. Now all they have to do is
buy Honesty.Com,and they will be able to add counter and image hosting
facilities, and bidder tools.

eBay conducted its regularly scheduled maintenance from 0100 to 0500 PT
on Friday morning, and are also doing an UnRegularly scheduled
maintenance from 0100-0500 PT Sat 18 Dec 99. eBay will extend all
auctions originally scheduled to end between 0100 and 0600 PT by 24
hours. This is the first of several major database changes to allow
for growth and scalability. They are separating the customer account
data from the rest of the database. These changes might cause some
unexpected performance issues, so they will have additional staff on
duty just in case. We really feel that eBay is being a bit blind to
its sellers needs, given this weekend is probably the last chance of
someone buying a gift, and getting it in time for christmas.   Could
they have not delayed this update until next week?

The following is synopsized from the announcement board, we have not
tried these tools, so the claims for them being new and improved, are
eBays, not TAGs. The new Mister Lister bulk listing feature is
available. Designed to help experienced sellers who list 50 or more
items a day, Mister Lister can save the seller some time. Three new
features of this version:
1. An easier to use software application, Mister Lister Composer,
creates and sends collections of many items.
2. Has support for new listing features like Gallery, Gift icon,
Shipping and Payment options not available in the old version.
3. A more user-friendly design for the Online Reviewer pages, preview,
edit,and start collections of auctions.

Yahoo Auctions We continue to get reports from our subscribers, that
they are having more success with Yahoo auctions all the time.   One of
Yahoos biggest problems was deadbeat bidders. The ability of sellers to
set parameters or outright ban buyers, seems to have mitigated this
problem to a more acceptable degree. One of TAGs staff, has started to
sell on Yahoo, on a small scale, and so far results have been very
encouraging. Items that   didn't sell on eBay are bringing the reserve
plus, and so far payment for the items sold is being sent promptly.   We
still feel this site has the best features, most flexibility and most
user friendliness, which is a pretty good trick since they don't have
much if any customer service. Approx 1,343,540 auctions currently
listed. http://auctions.yahoo.com/auction/

Golds Auction Free basic listings through 31 Dec 1999. Approx 9879
auctions listed now, and 247763 Auctions since 6/20/99 Their auction
numbers continue to follow a downward trend.

Honesty.Com has added a pricing tool to their auction users toolbox. The
Honesty Price-Finder(tm), uses search criteria, and determines the high,
low and average price for a given item. For bidders, the
Price-Finder(tm) gives a price range for an item and helps measure its
availability over a 30-day period. For the seller, the Price-Finder
helps   place your item in its appropriate category and gives you an
idea of   its potential value. http://www.honesty.com
