eBay US- The eBay users who eBay threatened to permanently NARU for an
alleged section 7 offense, received an email from the VP for Customer
Support,Matt B. The whole email with headers is posted in the TAGnotes
files with full permission from the recipient, but here is the paragraph
that is the crux of the matter. –QUOTE - First of all, let me once again
apologize for the tone and tenor of our recent email correspondence to
you. We must, at all times, strive to offer our customers explanation,
courtesy, responsiveness and respect. The email you received,
threatening your suspension, was inappropriate and did not provide you
with adequate explanation of our
concerns. Because of this, you are no longer under threat of suspension.
Please remember, however, that one of our primary responsibilities is
to protect the personal information of our community members and we will
continue to do so. - ENDQOUTE
It goes on to state that Safe Harbor procedure will get a complete
review. And though this email is VERY carefully worded, I hope this is
the first step at eBay to reconsider what section 7 really means, and
the impact it has on their users, and the relationship between eBay and
its users. The thread about this on AW can be found here-

Ebay has blocked all access to the Auction Watch meta search engine.

We have sent a copy of the Route Trace ping to eBay, to assist
them in determining how and why our ISP is blocked from eBay.
We are waiting their response.
