ebaY US is holding a gallery promo listing day on Wednesday 15 AUG 2007
between 00:00:01 PT (12:00 AM plus one second on WED 15 AUG 2007 and
ending that same day, 15 AUG 2007 at 23:59:59 PT(11:59 PM plus 59
seconds). If you purchase the 35 cent gallery feature (which must be
purchased separately and not as part of a package) on an item starting
at $9.99 or less, ebaY will waive the listing fee. This promo really
only benefits those who already waste their money on galley or those who
find value in a 5 cent savings on 9.99 cent listings (fee is normally 40
cents).
This promo applies to auction and fixed price listings of 9.99 or less
when gallery is purchased for 35 cents.
ebaY will still charge all other fees including final value fees,
listing upgrade fees, such as
Buy It Now, featured plus, subtitle, highlight, bold, gallery, gift
services, scheduled
listings, gallery featured, homepage featured, reserve fees, ebaY
Picture Services, duration
fees, etc.
ebaY is excluding ebaY Motors vehicles and parts and accessories,
International, Live Auction, Professional Services, Ad Format, Real
Estate and Store Inventory listings, from the 20 cent promotion.
Additionally, they are excluding business and industrial categories:
tractors & farm machinery (91952), heavy equipment (25249), concession
trailers, carts (67145), imaging and aesthetics equipment (92035),
forklifts and other lifts (97185), manufacturing equipment (92080),
metalworking equipment (92082) and commercial printing presses (26247)
and store inventory listings. The promotional rate does not apply to
listings with a start date prior to 15 AUG 2007 - including those
listings revised during the promotional period. The promotional rate
also does not apply to listings created on 15 AUG 2007 and scheduled to
start after the promotion ends. Bundles that contain Gallery such as
Value Pack, Pro Pack, Gallery Plus, Gallery Featured and Picture Pack
will not be eligible. You will need to purchase Gallery separately to be
eligible for the promotion.
List auction items through the Sell Your Item Form, ebaY Seller Tools,
and most third-party tools. For sellers listing with any tool other than
the latest version of the Sell Your Item form (SYI 3.0) the promotional
price will not be shown during the listing process. Instead the discount
will be reflected in the "View Account Status" section in My ebaY, as
well as in the next invoice.
Anyone can participate in this promotion, but they must list on ebaY US
and be willing to ship to the US and accept payment in US dollars.

EBAY REQUIRES PAYPAL ON EBAY UK

ebaY UK is now requiring that sellers use PayPal as the sole payment
method for the category Video Games: Consoles and that sellers offer
PayPal for the categories Video Games and Health & Beauty.
This is bad news for all sellers for several reasons. ebaY uses the UK
to test things they want to implement on the US and other sites. If
they get away with it in the UK, they feel they can get away with it
everywhere. This is a big step in the monopolistic practices we warned
the Dept of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission about, when
ebaY was allowed to buy PayPal. ebaY will keep pushing this until only
PayPal is allowed for payment on ebaY.
ebaY claims this is to help protect buyers against fraud, but who is
going to protect the seller and buyer from ebaY/PayPal perpetrated
fraud?
