EBAY PROBLEM LIST
************************************************************
Unfortunately we need to get this special edition out ASAP, so we are
just going to list some of the problems ebaY is having without expanding
too much on them right now.

HIDDEN BIDDERS - ebaY claims this is to protect buyers from fake second
chance offers (SCO's). This is a lie - all it does is increase shill
bidding. See the open back door articles for more on SCOs

PROXY BIDS EXPOSED TO SELLER DURING BIDDING - TAG has seen reports from
sellers where they are able to see a bidders proxy bid during the course
of an auction. Add this to the hidden bidders and you have the perfect
shill bidding environment.

SEARCH - Search has been broken since ebaY changed it several months
ago. There does not appear to be any effort on ebaY's part to fix the
search mess. Add to that the fact that indexing a listing can take
hours to days, and sellers are getting royally screwed.

OPEN BACK DOOR - It appears that ebaY is completely accessible to
scammers and that the scammers have unlimited access to and are able to
manipulate without restriction every ebaY users account. The Chinese
sellers who are now banned from selling their counterfeit merchandise on
ebaY are selling it through these hijacked accounts. For more info see
- http://www.auctionguild.com/generic146.html

NO MORE BUYER PROTECTION - ebaY has cancelled their buyer protection
program (not that it ever amounted to much). The only way a buyer might
be able to get money back from a fraudulent or otherwise problematical
transaction on ebaY, is if they use PayPal. BUT - be warned - the ONLY
way a buyer can make sure they are fully protected is to use their
charge card (after having checked with their charge card company on its
charge back policy). A buyer should NOT keep a balance in PayPal - they
should keep their PayPal account empty and only use a charge card to pay
for purchases - either through PayPal or directly with those sellers who
have Merchant Accounts - or through some other payment system like
Google's.

SCAM BY BUYERS AGAINST COIN SELLERS - There is a scam that has caught
several ebaY coin sellers, where a seemingly legitimate buyer (account
in US - possibly hijacked) purchases coins on ebaY, and uses a
fraudulent/stolen charge card through PayPal. The items are shipped to
a non-US destination, so PayPal's seller protection program does not
protect the seller. As always, sellers need to read the fine print on
PayPal and know exactly how PayPal can sleaze its way out of protecting
the seller.

EBAY FEE INCREASE - It is not hard to guess that TAG feels that any fee
increase is outrageous, since ebaY does not provide the service sellers
currently pay for. The only way ebaY will cut back on their excessive
fees is when sellers stop using the site as their main business venue
and start to use ebaY the way it should be used, as just another search
engine to bring buyers to the SELLERS site.

EBAY GAINING THE REPUTATION AS THE WORLD BIGGEST FENCE - As a place to
sell stolen and fake merchandise, ebaY tops the list. ebaY has quite a
reputation amongst law enforcement folks and amongst the people who run
loss prevention for their companies, as being uncooperative when it
comes to trying to nail the thieves selling on ebaY's site. ebaY does
little to try to control their site being used to fence goods, does not
even take the most basic steps to assist the folks who find their stolen
goods on ebaY, and does nothing to monitor or control those goods that
are obviously stolen, fraudulent or counterfeit
