ebaY is holding a 2 day discount on items in certain Books,
Movies, Music and Video Games categories when the seller
uses the pre-filled item information feature. In order to be eligible
for the promotion, you must list your item in at least one of the
following specific categories, and use the pre-filled item
information feature: VHS, DVD, CD, Cassettes, AudioBooks,
Non-Fiction Books, Education (Text Books), Children's Books,
Fiction Books and Video Games. If you follow these restrictions,
the listing fee for auction style and fixed price listings will cost
10 Cents. This is on the U.S. site (www.ebay.com) and begins
Tuesday 20 Apr 2004 at 00:00:01 PT (12:00 AM plus one
second) and ends at 23:59:59 PT on Wednesday 21 March
2004 (11:59 PM plus 59 seconds). Listings created before 20
Apr and scheduled to start during the promotional period, 20-21
Apr, will be eligible for the promotional rate.

This discount is for Auction-Style and Fixed Price insertion fees
for listings within the Books, Movies, Music, and Video Games
categories. The promotion does not apply to any category levels
except those listed above, or for Live Auction, International,
Professional Services, ebaY Motors vehicles and non-vehicles,
Stores Inventory, and multi-quantity listings. The promotional
offer does not apply for listings with a start date prior to 20 Apr -
including those listings revised during the promotional period
(20-21 Apr 2004), or for listings created during this period but
scheduled to start at a later date.

ebaY continues to aim at Half.Com sellers in an attempt to get
them to use the ebaY site.   For items of this type, TAG strongly
recommends sellers consider the growing
marketplace on Amazon.Com which we continue to hear is a
good venue for sellers of fixed price items such as the ones in
these categories.   We have heard from folks who like Amazon
and those who don't and highly recommend that you at least try it

For other alternatives to ebaY - Yahoo Auctions has added a pre
filled information ability to their listing page. This works with
items that have a UPC or ISBN in books, music, videos or video
games. Entering the number will pre-fill in an image, title and
description.

A new site has opened up for music and music related items
called All Things Sound at - http://www.allthingssound.com/
The owners say classic rock DVDs and 60s to 80s rock sell well
on the site.

Froogle is now a link on the Google main page and ALL sellers
should have their own webpage indexed on Froogle, that lists
their items, and links to the sites other than ebaY, that they sell
on. Sellers should use ebaY as a marketing tool to build their
customer base and lead interested buyers from ebaY to buy in
places where the sellers can sell at a lower cost than on ebaY.
