ebaY continues to run in a fairly stable manner with only infrequent
outages and glitches.
On 30 Aug at 06:40:02 PT users reported the sell your item page
intermittently down. At 13:51:19 PT users reported search down. ebaY
posted at 13:58:07 PT that some users title search was down. At
14:09:47 PT ebaY reported that title search was down from 13:46 PT to
14:07 PT.

On 1 Sep at 07:48:26 PT users reported revise auction was down.
Intermittent complaints continued all day. At 21:36:28 PT users
reported problems with search.

On 2 Sep at 07:13:43 PT users received page can't be displayed messages.

TO REQUEST REFUNDS from ebaY go to

Don’t take no for an answer; keep requesting until you get them.

Pink Quote of the Day, on 27 Aug at 04:58 PT when a question was raised
about why ebaY does not use their Squaretrade partner for problem
resolution between ebaY and it's users, Daphne@ebaY said, "Squaretrade
is set up to handle disputes between members, but not set up to handle
ebay-to-member issues, which don't lend themselves well to their
service. eBay bases its decisions based on our rules and policies, so in
essence staff is always working to do 'dispute resolution' with members
who have complaints about our site. Should a member get a response they
feel is inadequate, they need to continue to work through appropriate
eBay channels (in some situations requesting an appeal, a supervisor's
attention, etc.) " TAG finds this attitude interesting, since the
sellers also have rules the buyers should follow, and TAG sees no
difference. The biggest problems between ebaY and its users are ebaY's
consistently inconsistent interpretation of it's own rules (every ebaY
employee has their own interpretation) along with its unwritten rules
and the policies that contradict the user and privacy agreement. The
more likely explanation is that ebaY can get away with whatever they
like since there is no third party looking over the ebaY shoulder, to
show ebaY where they are being inconsistent and unfair. ebaY is not
comfortable exposing themselves to the same scrutiny they think their
sellers should, even to a company that is an ebaY partner.

Back in Oct 2000, ebaY hired William Morris to develop a television
program for them. They were in talks with all of the major TV networks,
including ABC, CBS and NBC. Nearly 12 months later, after the apparent
failure of these efforts, ebaY is now trying again with Columbia TriStar
Television to create a new daily television series for fall 2002.

ebaY employees are required to follow certain guidelines when bidding or
selling on ebaY.   The bottom line is that when an ebaY company employee
bids on or purchases an item, the employee must email the link to this
web page to the seller, and when as ebaY Company employee lists an item
for sale, the ebaY Company employee must include the link to this web
page in their listing if possible. ebaY has changed them policy, and it
can be viewed at
http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/empl-agreement.html

After nearly a year of discussing and testing making banner ads
available for purchase by ebaY users, ebaY has decided to allow power
sellers to purchase these banners. ebaY is using an advertising package
in cooperation with AdVariant, an on-line advertising application from
Amazing Media, Inc. They are currently testing the application with a
limited number of power sellers. It will be available for purchase by
all power sellers within a few weeks. Sellers will have the option of
displaying their ads either throughout ebaY or on specific category
pages. The banner ads will link to the individual power seller's ebaY
Store or About Me page. ebaY hopes to expand the service to include all
sellers who meet certain minimum criteria in the future.

ebaY is now prohibiting the sale of speleothems, stalactites and
stalagmites taken from caves on any federal land. Any cave formation
listed on ebaY that has been removed from federal land will be ended and
the seller could be subject to criminal or civil penalties.
http://pages.ebaY.com/help/community/png-artifacts.html

ebaY will also end auctions for unregistered or misbranded pesticides
along with suspended or canceled pesticides. If you sell a pesticide
product or container on ebaY that is mislabeled, not registered with the
EPA, or no longer registered with the EPA, you could be breaking the law
and could be subject to criminal or civil penalties, including fines.
This policy is effective immediately. If you are buying or selling items
containing pesticides, please make sure they do not fall into any of
these categories. For details go to
http://pages.ebaY.com/help/community/png-pesticides.html
