On 17 Jun ebaY posted at 14:25:32 PT that ebaY had finally figured
out the problems which prevent members with certain older browsers
from viewing pictures with ebaY picture services. ebaY thinks they=20
have identified the specific coding that causes this situation, and=20
they hope to be able to correct this issue in the next few days.
On 18 Jun at 06:59:15 PT users reported My ebaY, seller search,=20
view item, bid, and search down, and receiving messages saying=20
'Network error Unable to read URL from host cgi6.ebay.com:=20
Connection reset by peer; Seller, Manage Store: Connection=20
reset by peer; on the chat boards, Connection Reset by Peer. These
problems lasted until 07:08:04 PT. At 12:57:07 PT ebaY reported
that seller search was down. User posted at 12:59:34 PT that=20
sellers search and search were down. At 13:22:36 PT ebaY posted=20
that seller search was fixed, but archived items that are two days=20
past the auction ending may not appear for some users. At=20
13:54:30 PT they updated the posting to say that seller search was
intermittently down from 12:50 PT to 13:00 PT. Ended items=20
within seller search were unavailable from 13:00 to 13:43 PT.=20
The problems were fixed. ebaY posted at 18:39:37 PT that they=20
were taking items ended prior to 17 Jun down from 23:00 PT on=20
18 Jun 00:00 PT on 19 Jun for emergency system maintenance.=20
At 23:48:23 PT ebaY posted they only had to take the ended items=20
down from 23:00 PT to 23:15 PT. Sellers reported various=20
intermittent problems with setting up the storefronts that lasted=20
throughout the day. =20
On 19 Jun at 13:54:05 PT users reported Mister Lister was down.
It was not restored until 18:07:04 PT. ebaY posted again at=20
22:13:28 PT about the pic services problems. Users with older=20
browsers, Web TV units, or those who were running stringent firewall
software can't view images that use ebaY's pic services. ebaY believes =
it has identified and corrected the problems and that all users should =
now be able to view images that use ebaY's pic services.
On 20 Jun at 09:04:14 PT ebaY posted that the SuperSize option in=20
ebaY's pic services were down for single images. Multiple images=20
are unaffected. Attempts to use SuperSize will appear to be successful =
to the user, but will not result in a SuperSize image on the site.=20
TO REQUEST REFUNDS from ebaY go to
http://www.auctionguild.com/generic.html?pid=3D33
Don't take no for an answer; keep requesting until you get them.
ebaY will be doing maintenance on the discussion and help boards=20
on Thur 21 Jun from 03:00 PT until 06:00 PT. The boards will not
be available during maintenance.
$$$ WARNING $$$
It appears that on the ebaY auction listing page the DEFAULT is=20
now YES on Billpoint. We don't know if this is just a glitch, as=20
not all sellers are authorized to use Billpoint, or a new opt out
for users who have signed up with Billpoint, but don't necessarily=20
want to use it.
ebaY ended the protest auction against the ebaY SPAM recommendations =
email, posted by the shooting star power seller. Several users saved =
the auction before it was ended. These links were provided to the press =
and an article appeared on CNET.

Pink Quote of the Day on 19 Jun 06:46:54 PDT when asked about=20
the non enforcement of the links policy on corporate sellers reported=20
for violations, Katy@ebaY said, " please don't worry, the Stores=20
will be completely searchable when everything is in place. :)......For
links violations, sellers are being given a warning and a grace period =
in which to comply...Katy" and "according to the AB, beginning=20
June 14th, we will issue a warning on the first violation of the policy =
and will end listings on a second violation.........So, we are still in =
a grace period, I would assume, unless a seller has received a second =
notice? We are applying the rules equally, but remember, you would not =
know if another seller has even received a warnin, in most =
cases....Katy" and when told that two reports were sent in by the user =
Katy said, "that does not tell you whether a warning has gone out, or a =
second warning for the same offense, you only know that it has been =
reported......................Katy So TAG wonders if ebaY is being =
selective in WHO it sends a second warning to
despite continued violations. Not long after Katy made these posts
a seller posted that they had 50 auctions ended on 17 Jun for an
illegal link to their website (no warning) and another 50 auctions
ended on 19 Jun for mentioning their business name, which is their
web address. Yet auctions such as the following one remain, despite =
many reports to ebaY about the blatant violations in it.

TAG editorial on ebaY's links ban, and what you can do about it.
ebaY Cuts The Threads of The Web? FIGHT BACK!!!
All the Billpoint logos are NOT in compliance with the 88X33 limit.
Join our fight to help level the playing field so the users who built
ebaY have a chance and fight against ebaY's new corporate=20
favoritism program. http://www.auctionguild.com/generic.html?pid=3D57
Spot checks of the Corporate sellers on TAG's list show almost
universal violations by these corporate sites, including ebaY owned
ReturnBuy.
ebaY wants to be the only SPAMMER on the net
http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nf/20010615/tc/11283_1.html
TAG finds it interesting that the organization that continually=20
SPAMS its own users, violates its own privacy policy, forces
users to implement the SPAMMER standard of opt out policies,=20
and when a user opts out STILL SPAMS them, can be so=20
hypocritical to testify against SPAMMERS.
ebaY has implemented the feedback changes they posted about several=20
weeks ago. They have made additions to the feedback profile page;=20
separate buyer and seller feedback; now show registration country ID;
allow a view feedback left by the user from the feedback profile;
and allow members to leave follow up comments without waiting for=20
responses to original feedback comment. The most asked for feature,
a feedback block for deadbeat bidders, was again ignored as was the=20
long requested sort by feedback type utility. Fortunately the later is =
available at http://www.vrane.com To view changes go to
http://pages.ebay.com/services/forum/newfeedbackprofilepagepreview.html=20
ebaY is adding an additional payment method for sellers to pay for=20
their ebaY account. Beginning Thur 21 Jun, users can use ebaY=20
DirectPay to pay seller fees directly from a bank checking account.=20
Provide ebaY with a checking account number and bank routing=20
number, and ebaY will automatically deduct monthly invoice amounts.
Information is kept confidential in accordance with ebaY privacy policy =
so CAUTION, ebaY is allowed via their privacy policy to 'SHARE' all your =
information with anyone they consider a 'partner'.
This is only available to users billed in US dollars with bank accounts =
in the United States.=20
ebaY is implementing their previously announced deadbeat bidder=20
program changes. Non-paying bidders with 3 unique warnings=20
(rather than the previous 4 unique warnings) will be indefinitely=20
suspended. Sellers can now add deadbeats to the Blocked Bidder list
after they have completed the on-line Final Value Fee credit request.=20
ebaY is adding a sub-navigation bar to the NPB-related pages. Sellers =
can obtain Final Value Fee credit without a 10-day waiting period if the =
NPB is no longer registered on ebaY.
ebaY has once again changed their policy pages without providing=20
the requisite 30 day notice, to include language that applies to both=20
auction-style and fixed-price formats. They also further elaborated
on some policies. http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/png-list.html=20
They have banned what they call sign post listing, which is a listing=20
that does not offer anything for sale, but directs members to the=20
seller's other listings. Prohibited the use of profanity within a =
listing except where the actual item title (such as in the case of =
certain music CDs) contains profane words. To view the changes go to
http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/index.html.
ebaY stores are now available for users who meet the criteria found at
http://pages.ebay.com/storefronts/faq.html =20
Go to http://www.ebaystores.com=20
Buyer info http://pages.ebay.com/storefronts/buyer-landing.html=20
Seller info http://pages.ebay.com/storefronts/seller-landing.html=20
WARNING these stores are still very buggy and very much in Beta
testing. There is no search engine for the stores though one is =
promised in a week or two. If you open a store and also have auction =
listings under the same user ID, and then decide to close the store, you =
will lose ALL your auction listings also. ebaY has a store discussion =
board at=20
http://forums.ebay.com/dws?14@993072533061@.eeafb97=20
and if you have customer support questions, send an email to=20
store-@ebay.com Storefronts opened on the 18 were not showing=20
in the store list on 19 Jun. Also, though storefronts were supposed to =
be available for international users, they were only available for US =
sellers.
For sellers who feel they have not had adequate refunds, that ebaY is=20
restraining trade, defrauding sellers by not providing the services
paid for, or other situations not dealt with to your satisfaction,=20
you can file reports with The Attorney General of California and=20

<DIV>ebaY is adding an additional payment method for sellers to pay for=20
<BR>their ebaY account. Beginning Thur 21 Jun, users can use ebaY =
