$$$$$ ebaY Germany FREE LISTING DAY $$$$$
Thurs 14 Jun listing will be free from 00:00 to 24:00 MESZ local time
or 13 Jun 15:00 PT to 14 Jun 14:59 PT. Sellers will have to pay fees
for special features such as gallery, highlight, bold, home page
featured etc. Double category listing is free. US sellers must be
willing to ship to Germany and though the sellers may express a
preference for US dollars in their description, they but must be willing
to take Deutschmarks.

The items that did not index during the ebaY site crashes on 10 Jun,
did not index at all on 11 Jun. Users also reported problems with
search not working intermittently throughout the day. At 12:33:27 PT
ebaY posted that title search was current as of 11:15 PT, but items
from 19:15 PT on 10 Jun to 11:15 PT on 11 Jun were missed during
the index cycle. At 18:33:07 PT ebaY posted that title search updated
at 18:15 PT on 11 Jun and all items were current as of 03:12 PT. They
claimed that some items listed for auction between 06:30 PT and 11:15 PT
on 11 Jun may appear in search but the results may not reflect the most
recent activity. Unfortunately confirmed users reports were that all
items were NOT current and auctions were still missing from 10 Jun.

At 05:28:33 PT on 12 Jun users continued to report their items listed
on 10 Jun had still not indexed. Users noted that some started to
show up at 05:58:39 PT. There were also reports of the revise item
page going down intermittently. ebaY posted at 10:56:28 PT that
The feedback system was down and again at 11:09:50 PT that it
continued intermittently unavailable. At 11:56:22 PT ebaY
announced that the feedback system was intermittently down from
10:45 PT to 11:45 PT but was fixed. At 12:14:40 PT several 'function
is currently unavailable' messages started to show up on the site, and
search results was bringing up scrambled results. At 18:55:05 PT users
reported the ebaY threaded boards were down. Users reported relist not
working at 19:07:37 PT.

On 13 Jun 06:08:47 PT users reported error messages, and My ebaY
down. Sign in was also not holding forcing users to keep logging
in. These problems appeared to clear up at 06:24:09 PT. At
11:19:16 PT ebaY had a brief crash and was down until 11:21:01 PT.
The site appeared to work fairly well for the rest of the day.

For users whose auctions to nearly 48 hours to index, the only way
ebaY will give refunds is if you end the auctions early and request
refunds for ALL fee. To end auctions early go to
http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?EndingMyAuction
TO REQUEST REFUNDS from ebaY go to
http://www.auctionguild.com/generic.html?pid=33
Don't take no for an answer, keep requesting until you get them.

Pink Quote of the Day - Gwyneth@ebaY when asked about the
actual active users on ebaY, on 11 Jun said, "... As for the numbers,
I don't know the active numbers on the site right now, but we have
between 5-6 million trading at any one time. I have no idea how
many times those 30 million have traded in the past year." Though
TAG is not sure exactly how to interpret that, it sounds as if ebaY
has 5 to 6 million not 30 million active users.

On 13 Jun ebaY posted new seller requirements effective 13 Jun. For
NEW (not current) sellers, ebaY will require a credit/debit card AND
bank account information to create a seller's account. They claim that
this will prove the sellers are of a legal age, sellers are serious
about listing an item at ebaY and that buyers are further protected from
fraudulent sellers. Or new sellers who cannot or do not wish to provide
a credit/debit card and bank account may go through ID Verify to
establish proof of identity. This change will not apply to current
sellers, only to members who set up a Seller's Account on 13 Jun 2001 or
later. This change will apply only to selling on the ebaY.com site. TAG
does not think this change will accomplish anything. We also feel it is
long past due for ebaY to do something to protect SELLERS.

For sellers who feel they have not had adequate refunds, that ebaY is
restraining trade, defrauding sellers by not providing the services
paid for, or other situations not dealt with to your satisfaction,
you can file reports with The Attorney General of California and

ebaY stores continue to be in the news as ebaY's press releases
spread around the net. Though supposedly limited to a small group
of sellers in a pilot program, if you go to
http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?StorefrontLogin&usage=1
you can open a store of your own. Once your store is set up
you can access it via   http://www.ebaystores.com/username
You can also get to this link by going to an open store and click on
"manage your store" check out ebaYs test store at http://cgi3.ebay.
com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewStore&name=ebayewatchteststore
There is a trial period until 1 Sep 2001 where the $9.95 monthly fee
is waived and you pay the 5 cent per item fee and final value fees
on all sales. For more info on ebaY store fees go to
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sellerguide/selling-fees.html
Just remember that these are in the TEST stage, and may cause
problems with your auction listings, or other difficulties, so open
one with the knowledge that it might not work as planned, and
could change anytime.

Co-op or Member owned site? This from AuctionPie
"While AuctionPie will not be a true co-op in the true co-op legal
sense, we still stand by all of the beliefs that we have written about
and talked with many of you about. That is that we will create a safe
and stable site that all online auction sellers can build and promote
their businesses from." TAG is not sure quite what this means, but will
wait and see. The AuctionPie newsletter also included the following,
"we are going to be asking members to pay a $25.00 one time membership
fee which will include all of the benefits of membership. List fees for
members will be $20.00 per month for up to 5000 listings. We also will
not be charging any FVF's (final value fees). Non-members or members who
decide not to use the monthly package will only be charged ten cents per
listing and again, no FVF! Also, please note that we are not asking for
any money at this time. We will not accept any payments until we
officially start our membership drive. We now also have a target date of
July 31, 20001 as our start date." Go to http://www.auctionpie.com
