On 26 May, the ebaY listing system was non-functional for the entire
day. Some users were able to do a limited amount of listing using
Internet Explorer or Mister Lister, but for most users, listing was
down. At 17:55:12 PT ebaY posted that Engineering resolved most
of the issues with ebaY picture services which were preventing
members from adding new images or relisting items. Some members
were still having problems. User reports were that more features
than pic services were not working.

On Sunday 27 May, problems continued, particularly with AOL and
ebaY pic services. For users on AOL, switching to another browser
such an IE or Opera, helped in some circumstances. For those having
problems with information disappearing when they use their back
button to correct a listing, go to this link for info on changing
settings so for when you use the back button
http://pages.ebay.com/sell/help.html#BackButton
Users continued to report problems with the auction listing page
and pic services throughout the day.

Don't take no for an answer, keep requesting until you get them.

For sellers who feel they have not had adequate refunds, that ebaY is
restraining trade, defrauding sellers by not providing the services
paid for, or other situations not dealt with to your satisfaction,
you can file reports with The Attorney General of California and
also in your home state

Pink Quote of the Day at 12:51:03 PDT on 27 May Gwyneth@ebaY
first acknowledged that ebaY continued to have problems with their
pic services, though no post was on the SAB about it, "sorry that my
introduction to you has come during a rough time. I know many of
you are having problems with Picture Services; we can't quite seem
to get to the root of the problem." And then at 13:44:21 PT when
asked why it took 24+ hours to post the problems with listing on the
SAB, acknowledged that the new listing page had been rolled out
before it was ready, " Honestly? It wasn't supposed to roll out when
it did. I was told it had rolled, then rolled back. I went off to our
company meeting, and checked before I left...they said it wasn't
out. I came back (just on a whim) late around 7pm, and the boards
are on fire and Customer Support is screaming. So, I posted that
we rolled with it (without authorization) just so that you guys would
know what had happened. I didn't find out about the bugs until the
next day when I came in. That's what happened." To TAG the
answers appear straightforward, though still amount to no more
than excuses as there are no consequences to ebaY as a result of
these problems. Gwyneth stated she is new to ebaY, TAG wonders
how long her refreshing frankness will last.

It appears that ebaY has frozen their auction numbers to cover up
the three day listing fiasco, as their numbers have not changed since
our count on 25 May. Even if you give ebaY a large benefit of the
doubt and say 25% of sellers could not list (TAG believes this to be
a much higher percentage, based on all the board activity on this
subject) the totals should have dropped at least 600,000, though closer
to 1.5 mil would be even more likely. Approx 5.15 mil auctions inflated
by approx 6% due to double listings yielding an actual count of approx
4.8 mil On 26 May 2000 ebaY had approx 4.57 mil auctions
