************************************************************
******* PLEASE NOTE *******
The TAG website is not functioning correctly. The site has reverted
back to information from 17 days ago. We have a query into BigStep,
our site host about it, and will keep our users updated. If you need
info on ebaY outages, or any other information, please go to the eScribe
site and check the archived issues.

ebaY users reported intermittent problems on 17 Feb. There
were problems with listing, and many users noted that auctions
listed Friday were still not showing up in the title and description
search database, though they did show up on the title search database.
There appears to be a chunk of Friday night listing missing. If you
listed on Fri 16 Feb, check your aucitons to insure they are in both
Title and Title and Description search. If auctions are missing, it
would probably be advisable to end these auctions, request refunds and
relist. Completed search was also not working in some categories.
On 18 Feb at 03:18:42 PT ebaY posted that the Home & Garden,
Dolls and Bears, Stamps, Coins, Pottery and Glass, Photos,
Electronics and Computers Categories went down from 02:16 to
03:10 PT. Books, Antiques and Art, Collectibles, Sports, Movies,
and Music categories went down at 02:56 PT. ebaY posted at
03:40:56 PT that Items in Books, Antiques and Art, Collectibles,
Sports, Movies, and Music, were again available at 03:37 PT. Users
reported at 10:18:49 PT that they were getting input errors, resets,
internal errors, slow response times, and most categories down.
There were active auctions showing up as closed. My ebaY was not
working. Seller search was down. Buyers could not open auctions
and bid. At 10:29:42 PT, users reported the whole sit virtually frozen.
The U.K. site was also reported down, and access via AOL was also not
working. At 10:34:43 PT further user reports confirmed that the books
and computers categories were not working. The site came
back at 10:45:17, but at 12:29:18 PT the ability to view auctions went
back down. Books, and music were not available, and items not
listed in those categories were showing up as being in those categories
and were not available. Auctions were showing up on seller's list that
were not being sold by that seller. Books came back at 12:41:38 PT and
the rest of site was back up at 12:44:35 PT. At 18:37:29 PT users again
reported the inability to bid. This lasted until approx 19:00 PT.
None of these outages and problems were reported by ebaY on the AB.

PINK Quote if the Day
Meg Whitman 3 Jan 01 After ANOTHER Outage - Has anything CHANGED?
"We are taking steps to provide the level of service our members expect
from eBay. First, we will upgrade the hardware components recommended by
our vendor in the next few weeks, which will require scheduled downtime
of approximately six hours during a low-traffic time. Second, we have
already embarked on a longer-term program to distribute the database to
many separate servers that will isolate any failure to a limited part of
the site. We expect this to be complete within four months.
We have made some significant improvements to the site over the past
year to improve site stability and scalability, and we still have some
additional work to stay ahead of our growth curve. We remain committed
to these efforts. We apologize for this outage. And we thank you for
your support of eBay through this."
