ebaY users reported on 14 Jan starting at 17:12:19 PT that search was
intermittently down and when it was working was slow. At 17:17:27 PT
My ebaY went down and cgi3 errors started showing up at 17:21:00 PT.
These problems were intermittent, and continued until the site
stabilized at approx 21:42 PT. Several users reported being diverted to
AOL and CompuServe co-brand portals. On 15 Jan there were also
intermittent complaints of site problems, but the majority of
complaints appeared explainable by internet traffic problems, as opposed
to ebaY internal problems.

If you have an auction that you feel was negatively impacted
by ebaYs problems, request a refund. Request listing and special
feature fees. Go to the form at

Yahoo Auctions users have reported that Yahoo is ending auctions
for a variety of seemingly non-discernible reasons. When Yahoo ends
an auction, they do not tell a seller why they are ending the auction
or respond to emails from sellers. This has lead to a perception
expressed on the OAI/OTI boards, that Yahoo is ending auctions to
eliminate the free relists that sellers were promised for any auction
listed prior to 10 Jan.

For those who use Yahoo's bulk uploader, you can still list auctions
for 14 days when using this utility, giving you 4 more days for
your listing fee that you don't get listing items individually.

If you want to contact Yahoo about the fees or any other issue,
you can try - Timothy Koogle, Chairman and CEO Yahoo! Inc.

We have still not received any response to our questions about
Yahoo stores and Merchant Auctions, and the information
about fees related to merchant auctions is very vague. The site
does not mention extra fees in relation to merchant auctions, and
at one point states " With Yahoo! Merchant Auctions, you've
now got a solution for doing variable price selling, exposing
your products to a new audience - without having to invest in
sophisticated new technology or spend extra time or money."
So if you don't have to spend extra money, does that make the
Merchant Auctions free?

Amazon we will be requiring all merchants to register for
Amazon.com Payments. For more details go to

Register for Amazon.Com Payments go to

It appears that since Amazon payments are restricted to the US only
a seller must have a US based bank account in order to sell on Amazon.

AuxPal.Com This auction site had a rocky start with a failed
attempt to piggyback on PayPal without authorization. They
required users to provide them with secure PayPal information,
account names and passwords, and misled users into believing
they were a part of PayPal. Though the sites fine print did have
a disclaimer, all the information they put out was misleading.
They have now fixed the misleading information, and eliminated
the PayPal requirement. There is a feedback import tool, and they
are paying for referrals. The site is well designed and easy to
navigate. The site support is very responsive and answers
questions correctly and quickly. They are very interested in
gaining the sellers Yahoo is losing, and appear to be willing
to go to great lengths to assist sellers to move their auctions to
AuxPal. If you have a need for assistance translating items into
AuxPal auctions, this is a good time to ask. The site is currently
free. AuxPal currently has approx 94,839 listings, a number that
appears fairly accurate, but a random sampling of both current
listings and completed listings show very few bids or sold items.

Vrane.Com has added some new tools, Fast Counters, a Sale Reporter
and an Easy Non Paying Bidder tool. Vrane offers a variety of auction
tools for use on ebaY. There are free tools and use for a fee tools,
and they will also custom design utilities.
