ebaY posted on 8 Jan at 19:15:12 PT that they would be extending
their maintenance on Fri 12 Jan by five hours. The system
will be down between 00:01 PT and 07:00 PT for scheduled
maintenance. ebaY is extending all auctions scheduled to
end on Fri 12 Jan between 00:01 PT and 08:00 PT by 24
hours. During the maintenance, they will be upgrading
hardware components as recommended by their vendor.
Expect Search updates to be 12 to 15 hours behind.

If you have an auction that you feel is going to be negatively impacted
by ebaYs outage you might want to end the auction early and request a
refund of all your fees. This might be particularly true of auctions
ending on Friday 12 Jan at 08:00 PT - as they will only have 1 hour of
exposure on prior to closing.
Request listing and special feature fees. Go to the form at

A very handy tool with which to CANCEL bids and end auctions
can be found at http://vrane.com/bomb.html

It would be a good idea to email your bidders and explain why you are
ending the auction - and make sure you CANCEL ALL BIDS PRIOR
to ending the auctions.

Yahoo was reported by Bloomberg as facing decreasing
profits. In TAG's opinion, this will be exacerbated on 10 Feb
when the last free relists on the auction site end.
http://www.cnetinvestor.com/newsitem-fd-bloomberg.asp?
symbol=114350643.

There will be some stability caused by those sellers who have
Yahoo account balances to deplete, but TAG expects auction listings
to drop off further once those accounts are emptied, if Yahoo persists
with their listing fees rather than a Final Value Fee. If Yahoo has any
desire to continue to offer auctions on their site, they need to have a
fee system tied to seller success. A listing fee will not achieve this.

Yahoo has confirmed that users who have credit account balances
from their feedback for dollars promotion- Featured Auctions Credits,
WILL be able to use those credits to pay their listing fees. They have
also announced that they are returning the default sort on their site to
ending time, and have added a deadbeat bidder reporting function.
