The Auction Guild Notes for Tue 2 Jan 2001
************************************************************
A Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year to all .
************************************************************
ebaY reported on 1 Jan 01 01:02:07 PT that completed items were
not available, as of 00:12:00 PT, from the My ebaY Bidding and
Selling Tabs, and from Seller Search, Bidder Search and Item
Number Search. They posted at 01:35:22 PT that as of 01:10:00 PT,
the problem was fixed.

ebaY put a reminder on the AB to suggest that users remember
there are lots of severe weather problems across the country that
might cause delays in after auction contact and shipping of items.

ebaY appears to be in the process of revamping the Great Collections
Auctions. The first step appears to be the renaming of the service to
ebaY Premier. http://www.ebaypremier.com/

Yahoo Auctions as of 10 Jan will start charging listing but not Final
Value Fees. The new charges on Yahoo! Auctions range from
non-refundable 20 cents to $1.50 with a possibly refundable reserve
fee of an additional 40 cents or 75 cents. Yahoo will credit back
listing fees for deadbeat buyers with their new deadbeat bidder policy.
They are eliminating the 1,000 auction limit, but will retain the 50%
rebate on featured auctions that sell. Yahoo will not charge for
auto-relisted items if the original item was submitted before 10
January.

Yahoo is banning hate material and anything to do with nazi activities.
Yahoo recently stood trial in France over this issue. The new ban on
hate paraphernalia comes after a French court in November threatened to
fine Yahoo 100,000 French francs ($14,487) a day if it doesn't find a
way to block French Internet users from auction sites that sell Nazi
items.

PayPal has changed their personal account credit card acceptance
limit from $500. in 6 months to $100 per month. In any month the
amount exceeds $100. PayPal will prohibit acceptance of credit card
payment unless the account is upgraded to a Premier or Business Account.
PayPal will hold credit card payments sent to a Personal Account over
the limit, as pending, until the recipient chooses to accept the payment
by upgrading or to return it to the sender by refusing the payment.
Payments funded from the sender's bank account or existing PayPal
account balance will not count against the recipient's limit and
accounts over the credit card limit will still be able to receive
payments funded from a bank account or existing PayPal account balance.
PayPal is also limiting the number of checks that may be requested from
an account to one a day, though electronic transfers are unlimited.
