ebaY's free listing day caused a couple of crashes today. ebaY was
reported down by users at 13:34:36 PT and back up at 13:38:02 PT.
It went down again at 13:57:00 PT and at 14:21:18 PT ebaY posted
that the system was down as of 14:17 PT. They posted at 14:37:36 PT
that the system was back up as of 14:33 PT, but users reported it
down until 14:38:22 . There were a few intermittent aftershocks
during the next hour. Users reported that listing went down again at
21:05:33 PT and back up at approx 21:22.
TAG strongly recommends that anyone who feels their auctions were
negatively impacted by any of these problems apply for credit.

TAG can't emphasize enough that sellers should not take NO for an
answer. If you get a refund denial, keep requesting and
re-requesting refunds until you get them. Some sellers are also
challenging ebaY charges to their credit card, based on services
not rendered. TAG recommends you use that as a last resort, if at all.
We have reports that ebaY is getting more and more recalcitrant
about refunds, BUT persistence has netted full refunds. In some
cases, ebaY will not even tell you they are issuing refunds, they
just show up in your account info accessible from My ebaY.
ebaY Picture Services now has a supersize feature that allows up to
six pictures over 440pixels w x 330 pixels h 6" X 4.5". The option
initially costs $1, but may change after the introductory trial period.

are probably not yet reflected in this total as title indexing is behind
by approx 2.5 hours and title/description search is approx 8 hours
behind. Considering ebaY allowed second category listing for
no charge, TAG estimates that upwards of 50% of items listed on 20
Dec will be double listed - further inflating the final figures.

Yahoo Auctions has been running up to 12 hours behind in sending
out end of auction notices for the last few days.
Yahoo has changed their bid increments to reflect the price range of the
item being auctioned. The chart with the new increments is at

Yahoo is also establishing limits for new users on the number of
highest bids they can have at one time. This limit does not apply
to bidders with a rating over 5 or to bidders who have verified
their physical address by means of PayDirect Address Verification.
