ebaY posted on 14 Dec at 15:54:19 they will be taking theBillpoint
system down for maintenance on Friday, 15 Dec between
01:00 PST to 01:30 PST. ebaY will be down for regularly scheduled
maintenance on Fri 15 Dec from 01:00 PT to 03:00 PT
Barring the dozen non functioning or disabled features on ebaY
noted in the last issue of TAGnotes, ebaY ran well on 13 and 14 Dec.
TAG strongly recommends that anyone who feels their auctions were
negatively impacted by any of these problems apply for credit. Request

TAG can't emphasize enough that sellers should not take NO for an
answer. In the face of inconsistency on ebaYs part, persistence pays.
Is a free listing day coming? Last year ebaY held a surprise free
listing day on 20 Dec. In TAG's opinion, ebaY does this to raise their
4th quarter metrics, giving it a number boost that lasts through what
would otherwise be a slump during the holidays. There is every reason
to believe that ebaY will do the same this year. If you like to
participate in these events, you might want to consider preparing for an
event, that if it happens, will do so with very little advance notice.
ebaY is trying out a pilot version of a Pre-approve Bidder tool. This
tool gives sellers the ability to allow only pre-approved buyers the
opportunity to bid on items registered through the Pre-approve
Bidder tool. Currently there is no fee associated with using this
feature. As a seller, you may use this tool for any item that you
prefer, enable or deactivate the feature anytime during the listing,
add or remove users from the pre-approved list, set up guidelines
to pre-qualify bidders to ensure only serious users will bid.

TAG speculates ebaY will encourage this to be used on higher end
auctions, and might allow ebaY to tie this to a buyers premium.

Amazon Amazon users are reporting better sales this week. The
Amazon Marketplace continues to get good reviews from Sellers as
an effective method of selling on Amazon. Those sellers with large
inventories who use the monthly price package appear to be able
to utilize Amazon more effectively than smaller sellers.
