eBay - is making some changes in regard to reserve price auctions. They
have decided the users are right, and that rules and procedures for
reserve price auctions are unclear. They are going to rewrite them in
the next few months. They are also reviewing auction related email and
plan to improve that too. eBay does not plan other changes to the
reserve price auction format. They will not require a set minimum
opening bid, will not disclose reserves, and will not add reserve or no
reserve icons. The additional reserve auction fee will stay.
In a classic eBay quote, they say, ³Some of you felt that reserves were
needed to address unplanned site outages.² Since it is eBay itself who
DIRECTED it¹s users to use reserves to protect against outages, we could
not let this quote go unremarked! They sure do twist the facts to fit
their desires! Anyway, they are going to ³explore other alternatives²
and want input on how to improve their current outage policy.
Still no response to email for clarification on Article 7 or request for
expressed written permission to continue to monitor, copy, modify,
create derivative works, and publicly display content from their
website in other words to continue to publish TAGnotes about eBay and
remain a registered member in accordance with their new rules.

Auction Watch- Defied eBays prohibition on the use of the AW Meta
search, to search the eBay site. AW has now been joined by Bidders
Edge. who ran a full page ad in the NY Times yesterday, refuting the
validity of eBays prohibition. They invite eBay sellers to register
their auctions with Bidders Edge direct. Meta searches might be the
tool that provides the level playing field for all online auction sites.
