ebaY has once again attacked TAG in an attempt to suspend TAG
from ebaY, because TAG tells users what is really going on at ebaY.
This time theauctionguild ID had a post removed and was warned
for posting information about ebaY on the DNF board for allegedly
advertising or soliciting business on an ebaY chat board, despite the
fact that the post had no URL, no link, did not refer to a web site or
to TAGnotes and contained no email address. This is another attempt by
ebaY to intimidate and silence TAG, and to prevent ebaY users and
stockholders from knowing the truth about ebaY's outages.
ebaY on 17 Oct continued to have various problems. At 04:54:51 PT
users reported that listing and revise auction were not working.
ebaY posted at 15:03:19 that they were getting reports that some
users are unable to access ebaY because of a network problem with
ebaY's ISP AboveNet. These were fixed at 16:17:52. At 17:24 PT
ebaY crashed. At 17:30:18 PT ebaY posted that the system was
down. The site was back up at 18:18:52 PT but went down again at
18:58:46 PT with seller search not working and title search very slow .
At 19:06:29 eBay posted that their system was unavailable for about one
hour beginning at 17:26 PT and was available again at about 18:25 PT.
At that time they were still having problems with Seller Search.
On 18 Oct , Sellers Search went down at 10:21:47 PT, came back at
11:30:35 but reports of site slowness continued. At 10:22:57 PT ebaY
went down completely. It was back up at 10:37. Sellers Search never
came back up. At 13:30:23 PT the selling page on My ebaY brought
up Network error Unable to read URL from host cgi6.ebay.com:
Connection reset by peer. At 13:58:00 PT intermittent problems with
bidding started and at 14:07:20 PT users reported that feedback worked
but was very slow. At 14:22:01 PT the feedback system went down. At
14:48:35 PT users received page can't be displayed messages and search
went down. ebaY posted at 14:54:42 that they were having intermittent
availability with Seller Search. According to users and TAG's research
it was completely out and had been since 10:22:57 PT. At 16:11:21 PT
ebaY reported that the Billpoint system was down. At 16:49 users could
bid and use title/description search, though search was slow and though
pages did load, they were slow and intermittently timed out. Seller
search was still down. At 16:46:48 ebaY reported that Billpoint was out
for about 55 minutes beginning at 15:45PT and was up again at about
16:40 PT. ebaY reported at 17:16:11 that Seller Search, My eBay Seller
tab, and Bid History were unavailable. All other My eBay functions were
working. At 19:12:11 PT users reported they could not open item pages
again. This continued to be an intermittent problem. At 19:37:23 ebaY
reported they were taking the site down for emergency maintenance from
12:00 midnight PT to 01:00 PT. At 19:49:58 PT they posted a replacement
message saying that they instead were going to do unscheduled
maintenance. At 21:15:16 PT Sellers search came back up.
TAG strongly recommends that anyone who feels their auctions were

On occasion some back door workarounds will allow you access to
your auctions and ebaY information when you can't get into the ebaY
US site. Try one of these URLs

ebaY is changing and restricting the adult categories as to what can
be sold and how it can be described and listed on ebaY. Effective
10 Nov they are renaming the Adult Only category
Mature Audiences, and alphabetizing the Mature Audiences
categories with the other categories in Everything Else.
Effective 21 Nov they are prohibiting listings that are
sexually explicit or graphic. Revisions are at
http://pages.ebay.com/preview/adult.html
Effective late Nov put in place a separate search engine
in the Mature Audiences categories. They plan to now
strictly enforce the policy as to what can go on the main
ebaY site in regards to risque and adult items . They will
also try to more consistently enforce these policies.
Mature Audiences policy is at

Have a business complaint about ebaY's failure to provide
the services you pay for? File a complaint with the FTC
at https://www.ftc.gov/ftc/complaint.htm.
And for all those problems that ebaY creates - these folks
develop solutions. They have feedback tools, the ability to
end all auctions with a simple utility, sniping tools, email
tools and much more. http://www.vrane.com
