ebaY on 16 Oct continued to have various problems. At 13:26:05 PT
users reported slow reloads of pages, particularly the chat boards. At
14:07:23 PT cgi 5 started to bog down preventing listing and relisting.
Users also complained that their bookmarked pages not working, and that
categories on the listing page were all mixed up - such as real estate
mixed in with antiques. Listing, relisting and revising were not
working at all. At 19:27:00 PT cgi 3 was reported as very slow. As of
this printing the listing problems have not been fixed.

At 20:48:55 PT ebaY announced that they were taking the
announcement board down at 22:00 PT for approx 30 minutes. It was
reported back up at 22:40:44 PT.

TAG strongly recommends that anyone who feels their auctions
were negatively impacted by the outages over the last few days

ebaY plans on changing the real estate category in late Oct, adding
creating a search with item characteristics, creating a special Sell
Your Item form for real estate, and displaying a new view item,
which has maps and neighborhood information. They feel the
survey they conducted of the people who have used their real
estate sales section -which averages about 450 listings, approve
of these changes. To see changes go to
http://pages.ebay.com/realestate/realestate_preview_changes_2000.html

There is another post on the AB about listing in two categories
for twice the listing, special feature and reserve auction fee.

ebaY is phasing in three stages the ability to add auction counter
from the list item page. Counters are now available in
Antiques & Art, Books, movies, music, Coins, and Computers
Third party service providers need to check to make sure their
programs work with these changes.
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sellerguide/counters.html
The counters are being provided by Andale/Honesty. Unfortunately
Honesty.Com, long time provider of the majority of counters on
ebaY, has been having severe site problems since the first
announcement of this venture with ebaY was made.

Approx 5.12 million current listing
MedVed shows 4.94 million
