ebaY started having problems at 11:42:06 PT on 29 Sep, with
auctions not opening. The site went down briefly at 12:55:59PT
and was back up by 13:09:43 PT. At 20:02:49 PT a problem started
with listing and relisting. Users got error messages that said -there
is an error in the gallery image URL--that it ends in .gif and that
format is not allowed. This despite the fact that the images being used
are jpg's. This might be due to ebaY changing the listing page, and
third party software needing to adapt to the unexpected change.

At 17:55:24 PT ebaY posted that they had problems with Description
Search updates and it is presently current as of 28 Sep at 14:05:23 PT.
They expect the next update to complete around 24:00 PT tonight.
Title Search is current as of 29 Sep at 16:20 PT.

At 18:56 ebaY reported that they had problems with sending of End
of Auction notices for sellers and winners of auctions listed in the
category "Weird Stuff" . Weird Stuff sub-categories, General (322),
Slightly Unusual (319), Really Weird (140) and Totally Bizarre
(387) were also affected.

ebaY is launching a new Rules & Safety Web help section. They
are trying to provide one central place to get info about guidelines
and policies and safety, and direct help from the Rules & Safety
support folks. Links to this section are on the navigation bar at the
top of every ebaY page. Click on Help, then Rules & Safety. Scroll
down the Rules & Safety page, and either find the info you need, or
click on email under general information.

The eBay system was down for scheduled maintenance 01:00 PT
to 05:00 PT on 29 Sep. Maintenance was extended by two hours in
order to perform additional system changes. Auctions which would
have ended during the maintenance period, and the hour following
the maintenance, between 03:00 PT and 06:00 PT were extended.
To end auction early, go to

Search updates can be 12 to 15 hours behind on Fri and Sat
following scheduled maintenance.
