TAGnotes is now mirrored on TOPICA. Tomorrow 5 Sep we are
sending out a test message to all our users through TOPICA and
we hope you will bear with us as we work out any problems with
this new list service. If you receive a message and have a WEB
only subscription, please let us know so that we can fix it. If you
are supposed to receive the email messages, and don't get a Topica
test message on 5 Sep, please let us know also. We are transferring
the TAGnotes archive, and though you will not get the archives
emailed to you they will show up in your message folder as unread,
if you go to the TOPICA site.
If you have any comments, questions, information, ideas or
suggestions please email us at tagn-@t...
HAPPY LABOR DAY AND MILLION AUCTION MARCH DAY
TOMORROW IS TAGnotes FIRST ANNIVERSARY
FIRST ISSUE WAS PUBLISHED 5 SEPTEMBER 1999

eBay continues to experience problems with site outages and
intermittent nonavailability of services. From approx 2300PT on 3Sep
and continuing most of 4 Sep, users reported problems with accessing
their auctions. On 4 Sep at 01:57:13 ebaY reported that they were
experiencing delays in posting new images to the gallery. Users
reported on 4Sep at 08:03PT that Item pages down and they were
getting connection reset and network error messages. The pages
started to appear again at 08:21, but then intermittent problems were
again reported by users starting at 08:27PT. The site appears to have
been working for several hours with only occasional intermittent
glitches, but complaints started again 17:41:21PT, and continued
on a very intermittent basis as of this printing. ebaY reported on
4Sep at 08:29:21PT that there were periods of slowness or
intermittent availability for View Items beginning at about
07:45 PT and reported at 09:06:33PT that the problems were resolved,
as of 08:30 PT, in contrast to what users reported. There were also
continuing problems with description search. Title search was updated
to within approx one hour of listing, but description search was
running approx 18 hours behind, and had been running 20 hours
behind.

If you feel your auctions were negatively
impacted by these various malfunctions, request refunds from

Discrepancies are starting to show up between the counts on the ebaY
Browse page, where TAG gets its totals from, and those being reported
by MedVed. Usually these numbers correlate closely, but in the past
few days these numbers have been varying from 20,000 to 100,000
fewer items listed as compared to ebaYs higher numbers.

Yahoo Auctions new selling procedures
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/auct/asell/asell-35.html

A TAG subscriber has brought a fact to light that we find very
puzzling. Yahoo will not accept its own pay system, PayDirect to
pay for its special feature fees. TAG hopes they revise this policy
very soon, as the very credibility of the system might be negatively
impacted by this nonacceptance.
