eBay's Billpoint went down on 20 Jul at 20:10PT and was reported
at 20:54 as being back in operation at 20:44PT. On 21 Jul 12:15PT
eBay had problems with slowness and intermittent site availability,
preventing access item pages, bidding, listing, and registration.
This was reported by eBay at 12:42 to have been fixed at 12:31 PT.

eBay conducted its regularly scheduled maintenance on Fri,
21 July from 01:00 PT to 05:00 PT.

On Mon 24 July eBay is adding photo hosting controls to translate
into Japanese and German to allow international users to try their
photo hosting. They are also updating the English controls. Pic
hosting is only available in beta in the Antiques & Art or Pottery
& Glass categories for users of Internet Explorer 4.0 and above.
In order to use this service you need to download their ActiveX
control. TAG does not recommend using ANY product that
requires ActiveX controls, so we highly recommend you use one
of the multitude of sites that offer pic hosting NONE of which
require this type of control. eBay hopes to offer Picture Services
for the rest of the categories by the Fall. For more info go to

eBay has also been having some problems with integrating the
eBay Germany site with the main eBay site. eBay Germany items,
including items where the seller chose not to sell outside of
Germany, were showing up on the Category Listing pages
and also on Smart Search results when both Title and Description
search were selected. Part of this problem has been corrected.
but it will take longer to fix some of the problems. eBay expects
that it will take up to three weeks to fix the problems to stop the
eBay Germany items from showing up in the Smart Search results.

BidBay offers several different auction formats, and seems
to constantly run free merchandise offers (the current one is
for metal pet ID tags) contests, giveaways, and seller and buyer
incentives. They offer free web based email, free pic hosting (for
BidBay, eBay, Yahoo and Amazon) and auction templates. All basic
listing fees are free through 31 August. It is hard to say how many
listings are on the site, as the numbers on the Categories list do
