The Auction Guild Notes for Thursday 8 June 2000
TAG is participating in a joint effort by several different OAI
organizations to attempt to influence eBay into removing their
big corporation banner advertising. If you have any ideas or
suggestions on this or any subject please email us at
eBay is doing its regularly scheduled maintenance and will be
unavailable on Friday 9 June between 01:00 PT and 05:00 PT.
They expect the down time to cause search to be 12 to 15 hours
behind on Fri and Sat.

In addition to its new co-branded site with Go.Com eBay has
joint sites with America Online properties ICQ, Digital Cities,
CompuServe and Netscape.

eBay has licensed another meta search site called BidXS.Com.
The site offers the usual offerings, an empty chat board, auction
tools, bidder watch tool, pic hosting and counters. It also has a
comparison shopping search for new items. The site is
somewhat primitive in design, and has a terrible yellow background.

eBay electronic check system with Billpoint will charge sellers
35 cents for each echeck. This promotional fee will end in late
summer, but eBay has not decided on the regular fee.
