eBay continues to have directed linked ads on their site. We still
await news on our queries about this issue. We are also hearing
totally unconfirmed rumors that they are planning rate increases.
The FBI is investigating Shill Bidding on eBay. This was
precipitated by the publicity on the possible Diebenkorn painting
that was shill bid on by its owner. If anyone has information they
want to share with the FBI on shill bidding on eBay you can contact
the Sacramento Office of the FBI at 4500 Orange Grove Ave,
Sacramento, CA 95841-4205 916-481-9110 Normal hours are
08:15 to 17:00PT Mon – Fri.
eBay launched the new listings pages 6 Jun with gallery and gallery
preview mode, and top ten regions for regional filtering. They had
to take the pages down on 7 Jun due to glitches and bugs, and they
will re-launch the pages when they have resolved the problems. In
the interim, they are back to the old Listing Pages.
Local Trading additions and changes in Home Furnishings and
Tickets categories can be found at
http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/cat_changes.html
These are slated to go into effect in June.
eBay launched changes to the Browse menu today, 7 Jun. The changes
are to the sub-navigation under the word Browse. For info about the
changes go to http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/IApreview_page.html
To facilitate what eBay believes will be an increase in Global
Trading, changes to Search Results and Listings pages will be
implemented within the next few days. This will take a week
or so. The Listings pages will be changing sometime later this year.
These changes include:
* English-only items will appear in Listings and Search Results
pages. eBay Japan items that are listed in English will appear also.
* Items listed in countries outside the United States will appear
in the Search Results and Listings pages only if those sellers
specify that they are willing to ship to the US. Items listed in
different currencies will appear on search results pages if the
seller is willing to ship to the US.
* The Currency format will appear in Listings and Search Results
pages as US Dollars $, Australian Dollars AU$, British Pounds GBP,
German Marks DM, Japanese Yen JPY.
* The Date format will appear as MM-DD in Listings pages. This new
date format, MM-DD (i.e., Dec-02) already appears on Item pages.
When you list an item for sale, you can specify the countries you are
willing to ship to.

Yahoo Auctions What we believed to be an official Yahoo Auctions
chat forum in the Yahoo clubs section has turned out to be just
another little chat club started by three people. From what we gather
anyone can start such a club, and censor posts and or members to
suit their own tastes and whims. We were surprised to see this in
a club marked official, but it appears that anyone can describe their
club as such without any verification from Yahoo.

Amazon Auctions appears to be well on its way to losing it's person
to person auctions as it appears they desire. The increase in
price for pro-merchant accounts from $9.99 to $39.99 has finally
driven some of their most loyal supporters away, as all the changes
they have made were directed to give advantage to merchant to
consumer auctions.
