eBay recently sent the latest edition of the eBay Insider newsletter,
based on Notification Preferences. The eBay Insider has an Opt Out
link that you can click if you do not wish to receive future editions
of the newsletter. Though the link feature was working, the reply
feature was not. Recipients who tried to reply to the message would
have received an undeliverable mail response. This problem was
fixed today. If you do not want to receive future editions of the
eBay Insider, you can unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of
the eBay Insider email or by going to the eBay Notification
Preferences page at

TAG recommends that all eBay users review their SPAM
settings to insure they are set the way you want them.

eBay has a long post on the announcement board about their
advertising banners. Over the last several months they have
gradually increased the frequency and placement of various
advertisements on eBay. They feel their increased investment in
technology and customer support infrastructure and efforts to
bring more people to the eBay marketplace justify their using
advertising to increase revenue. They feel that additional
advertisement sales are the best way to raise revenue at this time.
They also mention that they could increase fees. eBay says
that links to co-brand partners can appear on the Seller Item
Pages on the co-branded sites such as eBay Motors, but they will
not place ads on active Sellers Item pages of eBay.com.

They claim that they are trying to find ads that don't directly
compete with eBay seller products and also that the ads will be
arbitrarily generated, not directed. This has only been partially
fixed on the site. They also claim that the Double-Click cookies
that determined the type of ad you would view is NOT included in
the cookie. Comments by participants on the chat boards who are
knowledgeable about cookies, say the doubleclick cookies still use
tracking. eBay says that they will continue to try other
advertisements to generate the revenue they claim is needed to
support the infrastructure for eBay's growing community. If you have

Golds Auction is dealing with a problem that has caused a furor
amongst Golds users on the AuctionWatch.Com (AW)site. AW
does not include Golds in its so called Universal Search meta
search engine. They want Golds to pay for the right to be included
in the Meta Search, even though AW has eBay, Yahoo, Amazon
and an undisclosed number of other OAI Auction Houses searched
by their search engine at no charge to the OAI Auction House.

To celebrate their one year anniversary, Golds has extended their
free basic listings through the month of June.
