eBay seems to be having problems with little buggy glitches showing
up here and there. Reports of Mister lister not working properly,
auction winners names not showing up in the email to sellers, and
bid increments not being posted correctly are being reported by users
on the various OAI chat boards. eBay reported that Daily Status
notices, did not go out to all sellers today.
Search appears to have been almost caught up and is now running
only two hours behind.
eBay had problems with Billpoint being unavailable intermittently
on 28 and 29 May. Registration was inaccessible for a time also on
29 May. Since only 226084 current auctions offer the use of
Billpoint (as compared to PayPals 1.4 million) this only has a
limited impact overall.
eBay has ended their WATCH feature survey. You can still add
your input to the TAG WATCH feature survey at
http://www.auctionguild.com/consumersurvey.html;

We will end this survey on 4 Jun and get the results posted
as soon as we can get it compiled, hopefully by 19 Jun.
eBay continues to add banner ads to their pages. The latest additions
are targeted ads so that (for example) if someone is searching for
auctions on a hammer, they will see a banner ad at the top of the page
for Ace Hardware Ourhouse.Com with a $15.00 off any purchase
and free shipping on orders over $75. Other areas are also being
impacted in this way, that takes prospective buyers away from eBay
and your auctions, and to third party merchants. Please see the note
below on the OAUA and TAGs activities in regards to this.

Amazon Auctions appear to be redirecting their efforts away from
person to person auctions and to medium to large business auctions.
The new policies about sorting, benefit their own $1.00 no reserve
auctions, and those of businesses such as Service Merchandise.
We have heard rumors that they make guarantees to merchants
who agree to list $1. no reserve auctions. Since it complements
their Book business to keep person to person auctions in that
category, that should remain a good area for person to person
auctions on Amazon.

OAUA is planning on weighing in on the advertising banner issue
on eBay. They are going to approach this as it applies to
those banner ads that are directed to specific searches, and take
potential customers away from eBay and to items for sale on other
sites. We will keep you posted on where to go for information on
what you can do to participate. TAG will also be making efforts
on this issue and we hope to have a page of information, sample
email/letters and addresses to write to on the website in the
coming week. If you are not yet a member of the OAUA, NOW is
the best time to join! http://www.oaua.com
OAUA is also looking for volunteers to undertake some evaluations
of OAI related products and services. Members' involvement
will be unknown to the product/service provider, so as to get generic
results. Members will be reimbursed for any expenses. The results
will be shared with the companies involved, published in the OAUA
newsletter, and posted on the OAUA site. They are also looking for
someone who is interested in coordinating the effort. The OAUA will
work with TAG on any reports we come up with also. If you are
interested contact Ste-@a...
