eBay is conducting a survey on their WATCH feature. TAG has
heard several complaints about the Watch feature, so now is your
chance to at least give your input. How eBay will act on this
remains to be seen, but at least they are asking.

eBay had problems with intermittent slowness with parts of the
system, including the Feedback Forum and My eBay. The problems
started at approx 0900 PT on 9May and were resolved approx one
hour later. If you feel your auctions were negatively impacted
email request for refund to bill-@e...

Listings indexing cycles are running behind again. As of 18:02 PT
on 10 May indexes were current as of 12:40 PT. Search indexes
were current as of 17:05 PT, 10 May.

eBay is adding the Gallery feature back to the Home Page. The
Gallery will also be integrated into Listings areas of the site
in coming weeks.

At 19:29 PT 10 May, eBay reported that AOL was having network
trouble and that access through AOL might be problematical, but
that eBay itself was not having problems.

If you loaded the WebSabre.Com CD with their auction management
software that came in the last issue of eBay magazine, it turns
out that it has, according to WebSabre, software called ADWARE,
which is a winsock programming tool and tracks how many ads you
have seen, and whether or not you should get a new set of them
the next time you go online. If it wasn't for this spybug, they
felt they would have to put a time limiter in the software or
something of that nature, instead they decided to go the spybug
route. Purchasing the software will give you an ad free version.
Though TAG can understand why WebSabre did this, we feel they
were very wrong to NOT disclose this upfront to users. When
combined with the system crash problems caused by this CD,
TAG feels this site is starting on very shaky ground. If you
are uncomfortable with this software you can go to
http://grc.com/optout.htm
and use the utility available on the site to clean out the
remaining bits of the spybug after removing the program.

Honesty.Com had a catastrophic failure of their Counter Database
System on the evening of 9 May, at approx 20:00 CT, This data was
corrupted due to a complete hardware failure on the Honesty site,
specifically the main counter database systems. The cause of this
counter outage was physical. Honesty is in the process of a hardware
rebuild and redesign. Included in this package is full outage
prevention and the physical construction of a safe server
environment/facility. Due to this construction, the main counter
database was physically damaged. Most counters appear to be
working again as of this writing. There is a link from the main
page to a complete explanation and apology for the outage, from
the CEO. http://www.honesty.com
