The Auction Guild Notes for Friday 24 Mar 2000
********************************************************************
We have had several subscribers contact us about the Online
Auction Tools comparison report. We apologize for the delay,
but there was more work involved in this report than we realized.
We hope to have the report out in the near future, but can't yet
predict a date for completion, but we will keep you posted.

eBay on 23 Mar had difficulties with the feedback forum,
including viewing feedback profiles and leaving feedback comments.
They were also experiencing unavailability of some parts of the
system, including registration and listing an item for sale. eBay
reported the start of problems at 19:12 PT. At 21:03PT they reported
title search, category listing pages, and most importantly, bidding,
were no longer affected. At 21:14 they reported all areas fixed.
There were comments on the chat boards that normal access to the
site was completely out, intermittently.

In an attempt to generate some business i-Escrow is offering its
online escrow services for free to eBay users. This free offer is
for a limited time only and applies to transactions under $1000.
i-Escrow has also reduced their other prices. For more info
http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/escrow.html
We recommend that i-Escrow be used with caution. There have
been repeated posts on the OAI chat boards about problems with
i-Escrow, particularly when buyers defraud sellers.

eBay says it has revamped the item page for great collections
though we don't see any significant changes.

eBay appears to be banning recalled items. They have posted
guidelines to ensure you are not buying or selling an item that may
be the subject of a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission(CPSC)
recall. http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/png-recalled.html
