eBay had listing problems from 19:13 to 20:01 PT on 27 Feb preventing
new listings. This was resolved and will be monitored for
re-occurrences.

eBay has implemented a three-month pilot program on on-line dispute
resolution. This pilot will be conducted by SquareTrade, an
independent on-line dispute resolution company, with a network of
150+ mediators for dispute resolution. SquareTrade will provide this
service to eBay users free of charge during the pilot. Both the buyer
and seller must agree to use SquareTrade in order for the dispute to
be mediated. During the pilot it will initially be available for
disputes involving items having a value in excess of $100. For more
information about SquareTrade and on-line dispute resolution, go to:

In an attempt to gather some up to date Amazon Auction
statistics, such as number of current listings, number of registered
users, and percent of items sold, we wrote to Amazon. The response
was QUOTE - We do not provide detailed information about sales
figures or the number of listings on our site, as such figures are
proprietary information. However, you may always find how many
listings are within a particular category by clicking on
"Browse Categories" on either our Auctions or zShops sites, although
those numbers change constantly. –ENDQUOTE We tried once again
to get one of our crew to do a physical count, and after slogging
through categories and subcategories and sub sub categories, they
gave up. If anyone out there wants to tackle it and give us a number
we would appreciate it. The farthest anyone here has gotten is the
Art and Antiques section.

Honesty.Com had a major meltdown, literally on the 28th. Their air
conditioning unit went down, and caused heat damage to their systems.
They are working to restore all systems, but due to the extent on the
damage may have to take statistical tracking offline until they are able
to obtain new equipment to replace what was lost. They will monitor
speed and response of their systems and adjust accordingly. New
equipment should arrive within the next several weeks with the goal of
improving performance and site stability.

AuctionWatch has had several days of balky performance, with their
message boards going down and intermittent complaints about images
and counters appearing and disappearing. This was triggered by a move
to new quarters, and equipment upgrades. there are 5 to 15 minute
spots, where nothing, happens, can't get to the boards, pics and
counters don't show, then everything clears up and runs fine.
The winner of the $5,000 dollar contest should have an email from
AW sitting in their mail box now. AW will announce the winner
on Tues 29 Feb, a day later than originally announced.
