eBay, after five months of promises, has FINALLY restored the
notification preferences page!!! This page allows you to indicate what
types of emails and other notifications you want to receive from eBay.
TAG highly recommends you check the page to insure that your settings
are as you wish them to be. The marketing moratorium that eBay put in
place after the furor over the Yankee Clipper SPAM, followed by the eBay
magazine SPAM, will remain in effect until March 5, 2000.

They also made the following changes:
* Implemented a more reliable method of keeping track of preferences.
* Reset the default preferences for all options so that they are
consistent.
* Revised and expanded the contact choices.
Set your preferences by going to the Notification Preferences page at:

eBay is launching new online support board utilizing threaded board
technology from RemarQ Communities, Inc. This new area will be called
Community Help and is scheduled to go live late next week. They are
keeping all their existing chat boards at this time, such as The Discuss
New Features Board and the user eBay Q & A. eBay staff will participate
in Community Help, but will have both eBay members and staff to provide
support to members. They will also launch several other “threaded”
discussion boards. These boards will allow eBay members to start their
own discussions or join in existing discussions, organized by topic.
This threaded format will allow members the ability to search for
discussions,
follow the commentary of other members and review archived discussions.

Registration was not working for approximately 15 minutes today.

eBay will be down for regularly scheduled maintenance. The system will
be unavailable on Fri morning, 11 Feb between 01:00 PT and 05:00 PT.

Honesty.Com got back to us about their alliance with PayPal, and eBay
owned Blackthorne . Honesty has been working for quite a while to
develop a partnership with Blackthorne, and judging by some of the posts
on the OAI chat boards, the Honesty counters will be a big improvement
over the ones used in the past. As far as PayPal goes, Honesty is
judging by their interactions with the folks at PayPal, which they feel
very confident about. TAG still thinks users of PayPal should err on the
side of caution, and use PayPal, but DO NOT leave anything more than a
small balance in your PayPal account EVER.
