eBay   is implementing a new policy about advertising on listings.
Starting 1 March, no advertising is allowed on listings, unless it is
directly related to the selling of your item.   EVEN that advertising,
can only be a single line text link to the service provider.   NO logos
are permitted.   You may still link to your home page, or eBay about me
page.   If your counter service provider, image host, OAUA link, payment
system, or any other service you use to sell your item uses a linked
logo, banner or anything other than a single line of   text, you will be
in violation, and can have your auction ended. eBay will suspend repeat
violators.   http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/png-list.html#ads

We feel this is a direct violation of eBays venue only stance, and that
since the listing is the property of the seller, they should be able to
put whatever they want on the page in order for them to sell their item.
We would imagine that to enforce this, eBay   will search for links to
X.Com, PayPal and   AuctionWatch, as their initial primary targets.   If
this new rule negatively impacts your ability to sell on eBay, we
recommend you write to eBay and object, and also write to the Dept of
Justice Anti-Trust Division (see below)

Bidders Edge the online auction search site filed a counter-suit against
eBay Monday in federal court claiming eBay wields monopoly power and
tried to bully Bidder’s Edge into a restrictive deal. When Bidder’s Edge
refused,   the suit alleges, eBay pressured other companies to break
contracts or   otherwise avoid dealing with Bidder’s Edge. Article link

After months of promises, eBay has finally returned Maximum bid to the
MyeBay page http://pages.ebay.com/services/myebay/myebay.html

Personal Shopper email is not working as of 06:50AM   PT 7 Feb .   No
word yet as to when eBay expects it to be functioning again.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating   eBay for possible
anti competitive activities.   If you have input the DOJ can be

Honesty.Com has redone their web page.   The site is much faster now.
We have emailed them with questions about their alliance with PayPal.
We see they have also formed an alliance with ebay owned Blackthorne
software to provide integrated auction counters.   We have also asked
about that   alliance.   If you are interesting in chatting with Scott
from Honesty, the OAUA is holding a members mIRC Chat with him on 9 Feb

OAUA has been busy attempting to work with eBay on several issues. In a
recent conference call with eBay three subjects were covered,
Feedback, Fraud and Customer Support.   eBays response on the first
was, no modification, sorting, multiple transaction or neutralizing
NARU feedback.   Transaction only feedback scheduled for
implementation mid Feb. On fraud, the quick solution was seller
verification via charge card.   Under consideration is bidder
verification   and seller verification without a credit card.   Bid
retractions will show in a users feedback page, and other controls are
under consideration. eBay feels it is handling shill bidding well,
though the OAUA community   did not agree, and are reviewing its
policies on that along with email   harvest and Spam problems and
general trust and safety issues. TAG covered the current status of eBays
Customer Support in the 2 Feb issue of TAGnotes.   eBay is still
promising live support boards in the next few weeks.   eBay is pleased
with the efforts of OAUA.   TAG imagines that eBay should be pleased, it
results in what is a free marketing service to   them, and they do not
have to act on any of the suggestions, or do   anything more than
provide lip service.   The full report is on the OAUA site, which on a
full reading TAG felt was a lesson in futility.   It at least garnered
some acknowledgement by eBay of the existence of the organization.
