eBay has implemented the third and final phase of category changes. Some
of these changes may have delayed finding your auctions via search
today.
There is a warning about SPAM and protecting your information. These
warnings can never be emphasized too much – QUOTE Do not
give out your
credit card information! eBay will never request your credit card
information via e-mail or through a “pop up” screen
or window on our
site. 2. Do not give out your password! ENDQUOTE They also recommend
changing your password on a regular basis, also a good idea!
eBay is rolling out a test of the watch feature in the next few days.
To try it go to any item page, and find on the item page a link
that
says “Watch this item.” Click on the graphic, and
a link to that item
will be saved in the “Watching” tab of your My eBay page . You
might
see the “Watch this item” link on some item pages and not on others,
but at the end of the rollout, the link will be available on
all
pages. My eBay link http://pages.ebay.com/services/myebay/myebay.html
They are also implementing the one time sign in feature over the next
few days. Some pages may not yet have the sign in feature available,
but all will once feature is fully implemented, they hope by Sunday.
It is also causing slowness, but eBay says it is limited to the
discussion board areas, and the view item page is not yet working with
this feature. To Use click on the “Sign In” link
at the top right-hand
corner of every eBay page or under most User ID and password
entry
boxes. When you sign in for the first time, you can specify which
actions you’d like to sign in only once for. After
you sign in, you
won’t need to enter your User ID and password for those actions again,
while your browser window is still open. You can sign out, or
just
close your browser window or eBay will automatically sign you out after
no eBay activity for 20 minutes. They have
moved User ID and
password entry boxes on the sell your item form from the bottom
to the
top of the page as part of the change. Cookies are used to make
the
sign in feature work.
eBay has added a new sell item page
http://pages.ebay.com/sell/index.html This is a live page so
you can
submit items using this page. Transitioning in 30-60 days. If you prefer
the current sell item page, it will remain as a link on the
new page.
A caution to buyers about payment systems is also on the announcement
board. eBay asks that should someone decide not to use an online payment
service, you respect that decision and not penalize him or her
for it.
They also remind buyers that it is up to the sellers to select
their
own payment options and by bidding on an item, the buyer agrees
to the
terms. It is the bidder’s responsibility to make sure
that payment
terms are clearly understood *up front.* Questions about a seller’s
terms and conditions, should be resolved prior to placing a bid.

Honesty.Com has redone their web page. The site now loads very
slowly for us. They have also formed an alliance with PayPal,
which
we question the wisdom of, as PayPal is not bonded or insured in any
way that we have been able to find. We were invited to ask for
more
information by PayPal, and when we asked for financial references, or
other information that would provide us with a way to gain some
confidence in them, we never received a response. www.honesty.com
